Disputes and predatory behavior by Quest Diagnostics and Credit Collection Services.

I'm having trouble with Quest Diagnostics and "Credit Collection Services.

My trouble:

I filed Chapter 7 Bankruptcy on May 26th and threw a $400 lab bill from Quest in because they billed my insurance wrong and I was filing bankruptcy anyway, so whatever... Hey, I could have appealed it to Medicare, but they could have just handed down the original decision, and bankruptcy forces a bill collector to write it off. No brainer, right?

Well, I got my discharge on August 25th, and Quest Diagnostics is violating the discharge. I contacted them over the website and they said to send them another copy of the discharge notice to a different address than the Bankruptcy Notification Center sent it to (the address for payments), but then they added "You will continue to be held financially responsible until the requested documentation is received and verified.".

I replied saying, "I'll send you another copy of the discharge letter, but that's not how this works. That's not how any of this works. A court order from a judge is not a request, and you face serious penalties from the bankruptcy court if you continue to pursue this.".

I ran off a copy of the discharge letter and sent it in with the payment stub to the address they gave me in the email, and wrote "DISCHARGED BY CHAPTER 7 BANKRUPTCY (case number) August 25th, Illinois Northern District Bankruptcy Court Chicago, IL.".

My husband's trouble:

He has to get labs drawn every few months, and the local health department is supposed to be paying his co-pays after his insurance gets done. They can't get their stuff together any better than Quest can and I've called and called and both of them say they're on it, and then several months later, my husband gets a collection account on his credit report from "Credit Collection Services".

I have him log in and dispute it as "Not responsible for this account." and the details of why. Transunion always removes them. Experian removed 2 and said 1 remains because it was "verified by creditor", and Equifax removed 1 and said the other 2 are still in dispute.

----

Has anyone had issues like this from Quest and what did you do about it? They ignore the proper channels for getting their bill paid, they mess up billing codes, and they ignore bankruptcy court rulings. They're an absolute menace!

---

I suppose I can try using LabCorp from now on, but my husband seems to be stuck with Quest Diagnostics because that's the lab the Health Department uses. Ugh!
