I had gone through the dispute process with a debt and selecting the option i have no knowledge of this debt
Apparently the dispute process decided to update the debt to the current date and says its on record till 2022
Can inquiring about a debt have it updated in such a manner?
No, it can't be re-aged by disputing it. The seven year reporting period begins at the first late payment or delinquency that resulted in the eventual default on the debt. If Experian is reporting that it will stay on your report until 2022, the date of first delinquency should be from this year. If that is not the case, you need to dispute that with Experian and also the original creditor who is reporting the debt. Any supporting documentation you have, as well as any previous credit reports with the correct information on it would help.
Re-aging is a violation of several laws, so they should correct it quickly once they realize the problem to avoid any further exposure to liability.
It is not "the debt" that is subject to credit report exclusion, it is the indvidual adverse items of information reported, such as monthly delinquencies, collections, a charge-off, or public records. The exclusion dates are all itemized under FCRA 605(a).
DOFD applies only to the exclusion date for charge-offs and collections. Monthly delinquencies have their own, individual exclusion dates of no later than 7 years from their dates of occurence, not from DOFD.
I spoke with Experian and filed a dispute against the information, and nothing changed
This is the charge, which is showing it is essentially on record for a decade https://www.dropbox.com/s/b04hyljdbehg6w7/fico.pdf?dl=0
