Do Auto Insurance compnaies pull credtit? Hard Inq?

I want to shop around for new auto insurance. I currently use gecko, but I feel the rate they are offering me to renew is not as low as I expected. I'm thinking of looking into State farm, or AIG. I was wondering if these insurance companies pull your credit & if they do is it a soft or hard inquiry.

They can't pull credit in California

I have AmeriPrise who is through costco, (you dont have to be a costco member to have this insr.) and they have greta ins policies. I have been with them for almost 2 years now and dont plan to leave, the way it works with them is it is a 6month policy but you slightly over pay for the 1st 5 months and you get the 6month free sort of to say, yea your paying 6 months insr in a 5 month period, but look at it this way, month #6, you can use that money to pay down a CC or an old cheap collection. if you want their phone number PM me and i will get it to you.

Did they put an inquiry on your report? I pay Geico in 4mnths for 6mnths .

I live in cali and in cali they cant check your credit, as far as i know they dont run a credit check at all.

Many do pull it and it is normally a soft pull
