Hello all!
My wife is getting a new card. I don't need to be added as an AU.
If I was I'd obviously benefit from the limit.
but ... would it lower my average age of credit?
thanks in advance!

Re: Does being an authorized user affect your Average age of credit?
All the scoring metrics associated with the account you'll take on. AAoA's will adjust but not in a way as if you opened a brand new account. Make sure you both know what the other is doing with the card and util. What you or DW do with the card will show up on both reports. Since you didnt name the card. Make sure they report to the CRA's. Its rare. But a few small banks dont. When it comes for you to apply for credit. Some banks wont take AU's into consideration. Hope that helps.

Because this is a new account it may adversley affect your AAOA. If you don't need to be added for any reason, I would probably not.
