Does citi bank report the statement or current balance?

My due date was the 10th. My statement date the 14th. Bill was PIF by the end of the statement date. No update to the credit bureaus yet.its now the 19th. What gives?

Do they report the current balance after the statement or the statement?

They report the statement balance. If you paid the bill before the statement cut, then your statement balance would be 0. And so 0 is what would be reported to the bureaus. I don’t know WHEN Citi reports said statement balance, but I wouldn’t worry about it. It can take awhile for the CRBs to update.

In my experience... my payment is due on the 16th, the statement is generated on the 21st, the credit information is pulled on the 22nd, and typically appears on the CRAs by the 23rd. I don't use my Citi card very often anymore, so I'm not 100% sure, but pretty much every single other PLOC I have reports the current balance, and not the statement balance. This is usually because the date on which they report data and the statement date are typically not the same - but in the case of Citi, because the statement date and the report date are so close, the two numbers should  be the same, even if they are from two sources (one from the statement, one from your current account data). So it's hard to tell without testing.

The only way I can see those numbers being different is if you had pending purchases that were not payable (pending) when you paid in full, but finished pending immediately after the statement was generated... in that case, the statement balance and the balance reported to the CRAs could be different.

Edit: it is also an not entirely clear when the banks report information to the CRAs. For me, it's usually a day after the data is pulled, but sometimes it could take longer, particularly if it's on the weekend. Just be aware that most places will list the date the information was pulled as the "report" date, even if the info was actually reported a week later. So that date is the date on which the info was retrieved.

The statement balance is what they report.
