Weird story but, my husband recently bought a new car. In the process, we had a heck of a time removing a security alert (ID theft victim) from Experian to run his credit for the purchase. Experian did not have my husband's telephone number listed on his alert, so this made the process of being approved incredibly, incredibly painful. Long story there that I won't get into, but it was a 3 week nightmare.
During this fiasco, the car dealership took it upon themselves to try and remove the alert on my husband's behalf to try and help the process along, while we were simultaneously doing the same thing. This created a huge mess and each time we would remove the alert, the car dealership would inadvertently put it back on. Dealership ended up running husband's credit 9x. Is there anything we can do to have these inquiries removed? Would that be at the hand of the dealership or should we dispute directly with Experian? We are in the process of house shopping and want the best rate possible, so having these inquiries removed would be ideal.
The credit bureaus will understand this as car shopping for a better rate, should be fine. The bigger question is , did your lender tell you not to take out any loans before applying for a mortgage? Your DTI ratio will be hit and getting the best rate possible might happen, if its too high.
It doesn't look like shopping for a better rate since it's the same dealership each time. No, lender was not concerned about the car loan. DTI is still very low even with the new car loan.
If the inquiries really bother you, another alternative is to ask the dealership/lender to code those additional HPs as SPs
Thank you! Lender said they would look to re-code the pulls.
