EQ won't let me ACR (annual credit report) my CR or let me see it due to denial of credit.
Just says "the information you entered does not match what we have on file".
Noticed a couple issues, there for a while EQ was showing my DOB as "0", and I had a FA.
So I faxed EQ a copy of my DL and asked to have the FA removed. Even mailed them a letter since sometimes my fax doesn't work right.
Got an email about a week later, DOB updated as on my DL, and FA removed.
So a month goes by and I try it again, no dice.
So I fax a copy of my DL, and ask them to update everything as shown, legal name, address, date of birth, etc.
Get an email a week later, everything is good.
In the mean time, USAA CCMP shows everything is good, DOB, legal name, address, etc.
So I try again about a week ago. Nothing.
When I call them I ask them what is not matching, they won't tell me.
Now here is the kicker.
A few months ago I BOUGHT a CR from them, no issue. Also USAA CCMP has no issue accessing me EQ report, but it's not as detailed as a full fledged report.
So now if I want an actual report, I have to call EQ, wait 20 minutes to talk someone, give them my info, answer a bunch of security crap, and wait 2 weeks for it to be mailed.
It's getting old, I should be able to access it online due to denial of credit. I've made sure 3 times everything on the report matches, and it still don't work.
Second issue, when I went to apply for a SearsCard about a month ago, it still shows my DOB as being 1981 and 1992. Nowhere on my CR's does it list a DOB of 1992.
Where is Sears/ Citibank furnishing this information from? Because I would like to correct it.
So I called EQ tonight and had them pull up my report. I went over my name, address, date of birth, ssn and any other info they had on my personal profile. Everything matched my previous EQ hardcopy and DL to a T.
So I said "How can I do disputes online", he said "You can either do them with us over the phone, or you can subscribe to our complete advantage plan which will allow you view your credit report online".
So I then asked "So your saying if I pay money, I can view my report online and do disputes, why can't I do it for free like everyone else when they do their annual free credit report or need to dispute online?"
"I don't know, all your information matches, there really isn't anything else we can do".
This is why I hate EQ, for 3 years I have never been able to pull my CR up for free online due to either a dispute or annual credit report. BUT, if I buy their product, it has no issue showing me.
I noticed I could purchase the score watch here, and other reports from eq. I got a denial for free credit report re denied credit.
Called, and had them verify my info. They wanted to sell me, I said wanted to have copy due to credit denial, and had immediate dispute for online. I told him the name of the hard pull. Said he would mail me a complimentary copy. I noted it was not complimentary, but required by law. I then got the security code for the online dispute.
The code is part of your report. It pulls up your report, which looks a lot like the free annual report for experian. They then give you a code for disputes. I didn't have to wait for the mailed copy with the code. Same day service for free (I even tried to go through score watch, theynwouldn't verify).
Little secret, Equifax's stock has been seriously downgraded. They are much more hard core than two years ago. Anyway, call and get the report number, and you are good to go.
I find EQ the hardest to deal with by far. They are slowest to respond to disputes. I am very put off by them not allowing you to receive your free credit report online. They claim that your information isn't correct when its free thru annualcreditreport. If you want to buy their version of the credir report, all of a sudden all your information magically matches.
To me its pretty scammy the way they do it. There isn't really much you can do, you have to play by their rules pretty much.
Since you must provide a copy of your denial letter along with your requested free copy within 60 days of its receipt, I would recommend not using their online service and using snail mail whenever requestng a free copy based on an adverse action (credit denial) letter.
Similarly, when disputing, their admin BS might spark a re-evaluation of the use of their online process, period, and a decision to use the direct dspute process where applicable, thus avoiding both their admin problems and ensuring all you information and arguments are recevied by the furnisher of the disputed information.
