EQ says no information without dispute!!??!!

I called eq this morning to get some information on old chargeoffs and collections that should be falling off my reports in the next six months. I have three chargeoffs with corresponding collections. The dofd or dola for equifax is missing on some of them. After being transferred several times they told me to look at my report, collections will remain for seven years. I explained that I understand the 7 and 7.5 year rule but I would like the dates that are not on my report and they should have in the files. Their response was "you have to look at your reports, I cannot give you that information unless you want to file a dispute, let me transfer you to disputes.......

I'm sorry that happened. Same happened to me, but I was transferred to disputes, and without disputing, they were able to tell me the drop off dates. From those dates, I was able to count 7-7.5 yrs backwards to find DOFD.

I talked with someone in disputes but she told me the information was taking too long to load and transferred me to someone else. Very frustrating! Anyway, maybe I'll try again tomorrow. Should I start with disputes again? They seem very anxious to file disputes but not to help in any other way. I do have a pretty good idea of the drop dates but I read somewhere on the boards that the report dates are not always the same as what they have in the file. Is that true?

Also need to add, Thanks for the response IIecs! I've been working on repair for almost a year. I'm down to 3 co and 3 ca coming off in the next six months. Getting very impatient and a little cranky!

What would the reason for the dispute be? Remember, disputing is the last thing you'd ever want to do. And if dates are the issue, then the only thing you can dispute is to whether it is reporting past CRTP. Is it beyond 7-7.5 yrs from DOFD?

EQ doesn't list drop off dates. But if a rep helps, they can get it to you.
