Equifax Issue

Hello,

We have been going back and forth from past 4 months (Aug 2011 to be precis) with Equifax to correct the date of birth on my wifes report. The issue is date and month have interchanged. We noticed it during our routine annual report check. We have faxed frivers license to Equifax 7 times and everytime the investigation comes back with same result that date of birth is changed and it shows the same. What is the way to clear this issue? We are frustrated with this.

Re: Equifax Issue

If you have the birth ceriticate mail them a clear copy. If you are faxing the information the fax may not be clear enough that they see.  Or you can call them and ask them about the information you sent and have them read the DOB over the phone and take it from there. Also make sure if all creditors have the correct DOB as well.

Re: Equifax Issue

Also, if you pull your EQ report from somewhere frequently, try to coincide the change in DOB with a change in one of your TLs. Your active creditors will update your report based on the info provided to them from the app and it sounds like one of your CCs, loans, whatever is updating an incorrect DOB to your DW's CR.

ETA...Doh...just read Andy's last sentence.

We did that couple of times and everytime they read correct DOB and when we recieve the investigation report it has the wrond DOB

Also all creditors (CCs, atuo loan) have correct DOB. But our rental lease has this mistake on it. Do you think this would be affecting it since monthly rent is not reported unless a tenant messes up with payments? I just realised this few days back when I was looking for the root cause of this issue.

On top of it this problem is only with EQ rest two have all information correct.

Re: Equifax Issue

If thye have the worng DOB have then update it with them.. I think the problem will solve its self. ( I hope)

Edited to clarify: If the rental lease is reporting on your credit reports It might be causing the issue.

Re: Equifax Issue

I've found with Equifax once you fax them documents you have to follow up with a phone call to ensure they post the facts to your actual file.  I tried faxing three times and only when I call they somehow located my fax.

We did that.

I was under impression that if any thing like this happens and they make any changes they are suppose to update us on the status of the inquiry and provide us with new credit report with updated information bu tin this case with EQ we had to call in every week and confirm the details.

Update: Finally last week we were told that the DOB has been changed and we should get new CR this week. We have our fingers crossed.

Sure I'll do that Andy.

Just out of curosity how can lender pull CR with wrong DOB and that too only on one of the three CB? This credit world is really mind boggling.
