Equifax nightmare

Been working on my GF's credit report for over a year.  When i try to get her equifax report, none of the security questions pertain to her.  Called equifax numerous times, faxed and mailed ID, etc, etc, etc...  Going in a big circle.  Called today to check in because its been a couple months and they couldnt verify her identy over the phone.  So, they asked that i fax the info again.  I asked if they received the info i already sent, and they said yes, but the system hasnt been updated. (go figure).  So now, i have to call in the morning, then fax info over again.  I am so frustrated.  Transunion and experian are good to go.  Advice?

That said, she was approved for Chase freedom card a few months back.  She is almost 27 and this is her second card.  First was an express store card a looong time ago.  Other than these 2 cards, thats it.  No other credit history.  What should the next plan of action be?  Another card?

Thanks everyone!

Re: Equifax nightmare

If the questions do not pertain to her, the answer is none of the above. Perfectly normal for "trick" questions to be present.

We have that same problem with requesting our equifax reports online. We know with out a doubt that we never had mortgage x or lived on street y and it still says that we can't verify.

Re: Equifax nightmare

UPDATE:  Just revieved her CR yesterday by mail.  5 previous addresses are not hers.  DOB is incorrect.  4 collection accounts not hers.  21 other accounts not hers.  Should i dispute all a the same time, or fix her address / DOB info first?  thanks!

Re: Equifax nightmare

It sounds like you have information that her identity has been stolen. I would begin a different course of action by reporting it. There is a whole discussion stickied to the top of this board about it that I would encourage you to look into.

Best of luck. Hopefully it isn't identity theft but better use precaution!

Re: Equifax nightmare

Well I called every account on the report and no one has her ss# on file. So, I think this is equifax's problem.

Re: Equifax nightmare

I have the same problem with Equifax. According to the data I can see using the report that MyFICO pulls, there is no unusual activity, but my access to dispute or even pull the annual is always always always locked because my information doesnt match theirs.

It has occurred to me that someone at Equifax could be in cahoots with ID thieves and phishers and/or their over-protective measures and bad verification system is being used to the scammers advantage. I periodically have very suspicious collection calls which break about every fair collection practice known. My attorney has advised that these are phishers and to not pay. The strange thing is that they always say that I can verify their claim only on Equifax (becuase they only report it to equifax), BUT if I don't pay within 2 days, they are filing suit with the court. Of course, I go to check equifax and I am locked out and it will take several days to verify my ID to be able to get in. Anyone who falls for this will just take them at their word and pay it.

Re: Equifax nightmare

Well i finally get her CR cleared up.  Took 4 different disputes total.  First i cleared up her personal info.  Addresses, name, DOB.  Then i went after accounts.  The got the personal info right the first time.  Took 3 different attempts to clear up the rest.  Equifax is a joke.  They do not do their job.  I mean, i had already contacted all the creditors to verify that none of her info was on file, and equifax sent back reports that said "we have contacted the creditor and verified the info is correct".  Pure BS.  Oh well, its done.  Clear CR now.  Should sue those idiots.  No telling how much money she has lost in the past for this incorrect info.  Higher interest rates, not getting jobs, deposits on utility service, cell service, etc....
