Equifax showing different dates reported..advice?

Hi all,

This is my first post but I have been reading all your advice on here for a long time. I am on my rebuilding journey and have several questions I couldn't find the answer to on other posts. First off, I signed up for myfico as of yesterday. MyFico is showing my Equifax FICO 8 at 599, which is showing a 15 point drop from last month. I come to realize after looking at my report that my Opensky credit card is showing a high balance, but Equifax is showing that it reported on 10/8.  Now I know Opensky normally reports to CRAs at the end of the month, usually the last business day of the month.  My Experian shows that Opensky reported on 9/29 when my balance was only $93.  Why is Equifax showing that Opensky reported on 10/8, almost a week later?  I also have CreditKarma, and on there my Equifax report is showing that Opensky reported my balance of $93 as well on 9/29.  It's just my report from MyFico that shows a report date of 10/8 so I'm confused.  I don't even know if I want to dispute this with Equifax, because it normally takes 30 days to resolve a dispute and by then my new balance will have updated anyways. I'm just bummed that I lost 15 points this month and got denied a credit card because of my "high balance" on my Opensky card.  My overall utilization went from 17% to 41% because of this high balance. I did use my card after the reporting date because I had to buy a new phone though. Does anyone have any advice on this? How should I proceed?

Nothing you can do this month, unfortunately.  Disputing that balance is dangerous because EQ may just delete the entire tradeline forever.  Pay it down and let it report next month and those FICO points will come back.

What card denied you?  Don't always trust the reason codes for a denial, sometimes they're just randomly picked out of many possible reasons.

Re: Equifax showing different dates reported..advice?

Thank you for your advice! I figured I would have to just take it as a loss this month and regain it back next month.  I applied for a Chase Freedom. Of course I got 7-10 day message and after reading all the posts on here, I called recon.  The first guy I got politely declined due to too many inquiries and high balance on credit cards which of course was the Opensky card. But what really confused me was when I called recon, they said they pulled Equifax but I did not get an alert that my Equifax was pulled. Instead, I got an alert that my EX had been pulled. When I tried to argue this with the rep he adamantly stated they pulled EQ.  Now I have an inquiry on my EX and that report and score looks much better than my EQ. Oh well.

Chase pulls two bureaus frequently. Bet EQ inquiry pops up in a few days.

Chase is also tough to get in with when rebuilding. Sign up for Credit Journey and they will eventually give you a pre-qualified notification when your scores are high enough. Mine hit about 640 and the prequal popped up.
