My thoughts about Experian Boost are simple -- you'd have to be nuts to give Experian (or anyone) access to your checking account.

You're absolutley right!

It's not like they dont already have access to something as important as our bank accounts... like for instance our Social Security Numbers. *rollseyes*

Re: Experian Boost ---- Thoughts

This program is extremely frustrating.

When trying to use it, my regional bank "Ameriserv Financial", isn't supported even though listed, which I used to pay utility bills for years.

I even tried selecting Paypal and Synchrony Bank as other than electric (charge for CC), I pay my utility bills on PPMC.

So not sure what good this program is if some can't even use it...😂

Re: Signed up for Experian Boost

So this Boost program works with paying utilities and phone bills with your checking account?  Well most of us on this forum will not gain from this because we don't pay our bills with our checking accounts.  So there is nothing to track. The only bills most of us pay with our checking account is our credit cards.

Re: Experian Boost ---- Thoughts

way too many posts for me to go through, but i wanted to point out that

1-this only shows up on experian and it shows as "self-reported". not sure how that affects things

2-they will continue to try to access your bank account automatically and if they can't access it after x amount of days (90 iirc), they delete the boost from your report.

3-they only count items like utility bills where you've had 3+ payments

i tried it out of curiousity and wouldn't have done it if i hadn't just closed the acct that i gave them access to. since they continue to attempt to log into your account (even when you don't request that they check), i wouldn't recommend experian credit boost.

@cr101 Wow! Great information. That is crazy, I did not know they required continued access, but it makes sense. Yeah, I would not do his ever personally.

Re: Experian Boost ---- Thoughts

I just discharged from bk last month 1/28 and needed the boost in credit. I tried the Experian boost and it found one utility bill 3 months worth of payments. Maybe because I was low 500cs idk but I got 60+ point increase. It was enough to have me call customer service and give them names golf my "telecom" Verizon and my garbage company and electric company and the date for the last 3 payments to each of them that went through my account so the can manually look. The system isn't great at picking up the bills apparently has it's still somewhat new. I'm hoping to get at least to 600 and then cancel and remove my banking account.

Re: Experian Boost ---- Thoughts

If you remove your boost, you lose the points. It's not a one-and-done. You don't get the scoring bonus if they're not there looking for it.
