Experian Credit Lock

Hello,

Not sure if this was the correct section for this. I signed up for Experian site back in January to monitor my scores and credit history. I eventually came across their credit lock feature to prevent anyone from opening new credit accounts in my name. I was reading through it and it sounded like I could still get pre qualified offers from credit card companies even while having the credit lock. So I locked it. I check the different prequalify sites regularly as I will be applying for a third credit card soon, within the next 3 months. No new prequalifications but when I check Discover site it actually tells me that my credit is frozen and that I would have to unfreeze it to do a prequalification. Does anyone know if this applies to all the major credit card companies or is it only Discover?

If it's locked, you cant apply or do pre-quals as those require a fresh SP.  I dont know if there are any exceptions to this, but for me, pre-quals are not working because of the lock.

It's still accessible to existing creditors for AR purposes.
