Has anyone else experienced this?
A couple of years ago, I lived close-by (on the same street, but a different house number) to someone who shares my same first and last name and picked up a few negative items on my credit report.
I have disputed these items, starting in November 2007. Trans-Union has removed them all. Equifax has removed three out of five, the remaining two are still under investigation.
I have tried TWICE to dispute these items with Experian, to no avail. I provided as much information as I could, including copies of my drivers license, social security card and apartment lease.
They sent me one letter each time I disputed these items, but they share the exact same language. They state that they have received a dispute, but that it is not coming from me, so under the law they do not have to investigate the disputes.
I cannot understand this! I wrote BOTH dispute letters MYSELF! I have NOT hired a "credit repair" firm, and I included all of the documentation recommended when sending in a dispute.
Has anyone else been through this? I am starting to think that Experian will simply NOT delete any negative items, no matter WHAT THE CIRCUMSTANCES, and that I may have to hire an attorney to clear this up.
Any suggestions appreciated!!!
Thanks,
Jeff
