Experian is as dumb as a box of rocks

OK...so I sent a GW letter to Citifinancial asking them to please remove the late payments on two different accounts that are paid and closed. They agreed to do so. Got an email today from Experian; updated info on report. I open it to find that they have totally deleted one of the accounts and then on the other account, the lates have been deleted, but they added a statement that the account was closed per consumer request (not true) and also updated the status date to July 2007. Now it says this account will be on my report until April 2014. ALL CITIFINANCIAL TOLD THEM TO DO WAS DELETE THE LATES....why do they take it upon themselves to do anything other than what was requested by the creditor?? How do they get away with it?

Should I request that they still report the account that was deleted. It was paid and closed, but with the lates being deleted, it would have been a great positive account on my report.  And is the statement that they put on the other account that says it was closed per consumers request hurt my score at all? Last but not least, when they delete late payments, should it change the status date of a paid in full account???

I think in order to work at a CRA you should have to at least have a bachelor degree of some sort, because it is obvious that these folks operate on very minimal brain cells!! How complicated can it really be.........................Smiley Mad

The only bad part is having the TL deleted.
The rest is good news- let it stay on your report longer (it helps)
Closed by you - does not hurt a bit.

Good old Experian. I would see if you can get the Tl reported again. If they remove the late payments, it should updated the file to show paid as agreed.

They are pretty dumb....I disputed a auto loan for a missing month of positive payment history. They instead delete the account entirely and it took me two weeks to get it back on!
