On each of the credit bureaus, it mentions the following:
"Your FICO Score weighs the balances of your mortgage and non-mortgage installment loans against the original loan amounts."
On another credit reporting site, I believe it was Equifax, the website actually said, I have a mortgage. I have never owned or co-owned a mortgage. There is no listed mortgage on my credit report from any agency reporting. However, there are inquiries from 2013. Also, I am getting calls about refinancing my mortgage. Should I be concerned someone is using my information?
Thank you in advance.
Did you get copies of your actual credit reports from the three bureaus? That will list out all your identified loans, including current and historical mortgages with details of start dates, amounts, bank, etc.
If you did not take out a mortgage, and one shows up on your report, you have a followup to figure out how it got there through the CRA.
If the Refinance companies are sending you mailings with specific references to you, your address, and a mortgage amount, they are getting that from your credit report as part of their mailing campaigns. If so, you REALLY need to get copies of your credit reports, because they don't make up those mailings out of thin air.
Alternatively, it may just be a slip up in some data field in your report that says "yes, Mortgage". if you are getting non-specific mailings from refinance companies, that might be a possibility, but I don't have experience to say my suggestion is realistic.
In any event, get actual copies of your credit report to review.
+1. Check your credit reports thoroughly.
