Few more questions about cleaning up credit-

Under the negative items on my report it has a Cap One acct that states open - credit limit- NA-and was past due 150 days- recent bal is $0 as of 10/2006- Is there anything I can do on this so it no longer reports negative? Didn't realize this acct was still open.

A lot of the late payments whether they were 30 60 or 90 were mostly in 2002 and 2003.

What about closed accts that are on there and reporting as negative still.  I have Macys on there and it been closed showing a zero balance for over two years but still shows late pymts in 2001 and 2002.

What about collections that have paid ? Is there a way to remove them?

I do also have one medical collection on there that needs to be paid. how do i go about so that it also gets removed from my credit report after payment?

Thank you all so much for you input and help!

Re: Few more questions about cleaning up credit-

First of all, DO NOT pay on that collection until you ask and get okay in writing for removal for payment. Medical collections will not short pay but still get that okay to remove in writing. I really wish I knew about them before I paid mine off, they are killing me.

Second, the late pays are not hurting you as much since they are more than 2 years old but, Good Will letter them. Since it is closed I would good will them and ask them to remove from credit report.

Leave Cap one open, you do not want to close an account even if it is 0 dollar. It goes towards your average credit life. Good will letter them asking them to remove lates. These good will letters are on this website. If you can still use charge 10.00 bucks on it if you have to. Although CL N/A might mean you cannot use it.

Collections that are paid I would good will letter them until they remove them. 1 a month I think is the plan everyone uses.

Good luck.
