Fico Veteran? Please Help!

Hey all, I have a very serious question. This is the scenario. I had a charter communications cable bill back in 2000. I had it until 2001. it was only 287.00. It went to collections (PAS), it states on the credit report date last active 08/2001, date assigned 12/2001, date reported 02/06. Then they sold it to Afni  and it states date assigned 12/05, date reported 05/2006, yet Afni also says date of last activity 08/2001. I live in tennessee so does that mean it should fall off soon (6 yrs sol)? Also can the PAS company still report even if they sold it?  Also i have a gym membership (hate those), that i did not fulfill. Now i called the creditor listed on the credit report and they say that they sent the file back to the gym,so i called the gym and they say its at gym services, at inhome collections. So can the first collector report? Also i called the gym services department and offered to pay if i could still use the remainder of the contract like pick up where i left off and they told me no, so i said why pay for what i didnt use. So what should i do about that?Any comments appreciated.

Re: Fico Veteran? Please Help!

Statute of limitations and the credit reporting times are two different scenerios.

You're SOL of six years is the time the creditor's have to be able to sue you and win in court.

The credit reporting time is 7.5 years from the date that of the deliquency that led to the charge off.

So it looks like you are all set on all front's.    The debt is beyond your state's SOL so I would send a cease and desist letter just simply stating Cease and desist all collection activity on above said account due to the fact that debt is time barred under the State of Tennesse's Statute of Limitations.

It should fall off your credit report by the end of Febuary.

On the second one, dispute the CA on your all your credit reports if they don't have the file then they have to remove.   It can take up to 30 days to collect.

If the second CA, gym services, hasn't hit your credit report yet,  I would, if you have the money, pay it off.  Don't DV them if they are not on your report.   If you can get the debt squared away before they report then you're Golden.
