Fico scores and purchasing them

How often would you say it's wise to purchase the other two scores not monitored by scorewatch; I'm just curious if there is a certain amount of times per month or quarter or whatever when they update?

Re: Fico scores and purchasing them

It depends, are you in credit repair mode? Most of us here use a credit monitoring service like:

True credit
Credit Secure
Chase Id Protection
Privacy Guard

These are just a few sites, there are many more. We use these to monitor changes (the scores at these site are useless, disregard them) on our reports. If the changes are significant, then you might want to pull your scores at this. If your credit is good, I recommend pulling FICO scores 1-2 a year.

Re: Fico scores and purchasing them

I pull twice a month on all 3 reports but I'm in repair mode and am looking to buy a home late this year.

Pull scores based on your goal. If you need CCs, or looking to make a major purchase (home, car) within the year, then pull monthly. If there is an issue with your reports it can take months to get it fixed. If nothing is going on in the future, I'd still pull 2-3 times per year to check for unexpected surprises or ID theft issues.

I plan on pulling no more than twice a year as I am in slow, steady ageing with no new credit apps and no disputes.  I need a bunch of stuff to have a birthday

Re: Fico scores and purchasing them

On "My" CR the data is very similar on all 3 CRAs. I bought scores from Ex and TU to see how much off they were from Eq. Now I just use ScoreWatch and know that the other 2 are about so many points different from my ScoreWatch score. It's not an exact science but close enough for me.
