GEMB/JC Penny & American Eagle!

I've been reading on the forum about responses GEMB has sent out to some about GW letters and I wanted to share that they recently sent me mail regarding both a JC Penny and American Eagle account that had some lates on them.

I don't have the exact letter with me, but they accepted it, said they would request the derogs to be removed from my credit report and AE actually sent me another letter stating that they were re-opening my account and crediting it for any late fees and finance charges that were a result of my lates! As a result they gave me a $110.10
store credit!

For any of those who have GW'd them, it did take about one month to get a response. So be patient! Hopefully they will be as kind to you as they were to me.

As for my credit report, I am still just waiting on reponses from HSBC about an Orchard Bank GW and Macy's!

After these two are removed, BAM! Absolutely NO lates on my file! All I have to worry about after that is negotiating a PFD on a medical collection and I am in the free and clear! I haven't pulled my score since I got this information, I am giving it a little time so my other payments can post and bring my util. down.

I was at 508 as of 10/12/07. I'll post my score changes when December comes around! DON'T LOSE FAITH!!!

This is exactly what happened to me with my JC Penney Card.  I had my account closed in 2006 after having a 90 and 120 day late on my bill.  I sent a GW letter about 6 months ago and in about a month I got one letter stating they re-opened my account and a second stating they were removing all my derrogatory information about the accunt.  To add icing to the cake, I never asked for the account to be reopened and since then my I recieved an auto CLI from $200 to $1800!!!

Just keep an eye on your report.  I was lazy and thinking that they will take the lates off eventually.  They're still on there.  I faxed them a reminder about a week ago with a copy of their inital letter.   I got a call back about 2 hours later confirming the receipt of the fax and they're sorry that they failed to take them off.  They're working on it again.  We'll see what happens.

JCP may have worked out something with GEMB to get their sales up with the up coming shopping season. JCP income reports. http://quicktake.morningstar.com/StockNet/quarterly.aspx?Country=USA&Symbol=JCP  Might be why they haven't closed my account for no activity that hasn't been used since 7/2006

Congrats. It is very good news and good improvement. I have been lazy lately. I have to get on track and see if I can get some of my derog's removed. You gave me a new inspiration to going again. Thanks...
