Does anyone have an idea of - by how much and how long does it take - to improve your score - by making payments, paying down cards etc.
Thanks
Colin
Hi Colin....that answer would be different for everyone.
Welcome to the forums. If you do a fair amount of reading here, you will see many stories of people rebuilding credit. One of the fastest ways to improve your scores is to pay your credit cards down...but there are many, many other factors that enter in.
If you'd like, give us some information on what's on your credit reports, your scores now, etc. Then you can get some more targeted opinions.

Welcome to the forums.
No one can even begin to give an answer without details of your situation.
1. How many accounts do you have and what types? (Credit cards, car loans, mortgages, etc.).
2. What are the balances and credit limits on any credit cards you do have?
3. When is the last time you checked your free credit reports at http://www.annualcreditreport.com
4. Do you have any negative items on your reports such as late payments, charge offs, collections, judgements, tax liens?
If you are willing to tell us your credit "shape" you will gets lots of good advice here.
