Getting last two collections off advice please

Midland Credit:
Household Bank
$1700
Expires from CRA in 7/08
(Almost certain DOFD was well before 7/01)
Made 2-3 payments to CA 9/07 - 11/07 then called and told them they may not anymore
Disputed Twice. Verified once, Exp/TU would not reinvestigate even though I disuputed the dates.

They since sent me a settlement offer, various options. No threat of lawsuit. Out of SOL* and off tradeline in 5 months but I want to apply for credit sooner.

*Some have said paying re-sets SOL but most of my sources say that is only with OC AND only if you acknowledge the validity of the debt (paying does not necessarily constitute this)

Option A: PFD, wherein I mention it is both time-barred and expiring
Option B: A letter I saw here wherein you demand full documentation of debt, DOFD, contracts, etc from CA barring which you demand it be removed.

Seems like in either case they'll be motivated, as they've dealt with two disputes and the item is not pursuable in a court of law and off CRAs soon.

Professional Collection Agency
Pac Bell (California)
$1300
Expires in 1/09 (DOFD 1/02)
Made 2-3 payments to CA 9/07 - 11/07 then called and told them they may not anymore
Disputed Twice. Verified once, Exp/TU would not reinvestigate even though I disuputed the dates.

No further communication from them.

Because this is CA, the SOL is 4 years so it expired in 06.

Essentially same options as above.

If the DOFD was 2001, and there was no activity between 2001 and 2007, the CA SOL would have run. Payment in 2007 would be on a time-barred debt. Even if payment resets SOL, payment likely does not reset, or more correctly restore, the SOL on a debt for which the SOL has already run.
