Re: Hard Inquires

The federal regulators tend to agree that disputes over credit inquiries are not worth the time and effort placed on the inquirees.

When enacting the new direct dispute rules, all disputes related to credit inquiries were totally exempted from the direct dispute process.

That exemption was based on strong efforts by the credit industry to reduce the hassle involved with such issues.

You can still dispute through the CRAs, but they are the party who authorized the pull to begin with.  Coding of inquiries is not covered by the FCRA, so disputes over such matters rarely prevail.

Best to handle it informally, and if results are not achieved, the dispute process is unlikely to be your friend.

If the Credit Card Compamny agrees to remove an hard inquiry on their end how long does it take to reflect on your report? Any way to expedite the process? Thanks

OP, sorry for my TJ. Give them a month to update. Sometimes they only update with the CRAs once per month.

Sorry to be cynical.  But, getting a single inquiry removed must have minimal impact on the score.  Seems like the effort should be focused elsewhere.

I'm with you. I'd never do it for the aggrevation factor and I think it's a waste of time. Most inquiries won't impact your score anyway (YMMV), and they only impact for 1 year max.
