I am hoping someone here will have some advice. I am doing a mortgage refinance on my house next month, but just got my FICO score dinged by 53 points. It was because of maxing out a credit card. But this was due to an autorenewal charge on the card I forgot I had. (The card automatically got charged, and it maxed the card.)
I called the company that hit my card with the charge, and they were really nice and reversed the charge. They put a note in my file that the charge was in error. So I suppose I can file with FICO to remove the score decrease? Does anyone recommend doing this? I read it takes 30 days or more for FICO to change my file.
Meanwhile, if the balance is paid, do you think my FICO score will go up? I really appreciate any help, I am beyond upset! Thanks so much!
Just ask the card company do to a mid-cycle report to the bureaus. Most will do it, no problem at all. No need to appeal to the bureaus and that most likely wouldn't get you anywhere, anyhow.
You can't always count on the score coming all the way back up after something like that (FICO is weird). But it should come back a considerable ways. Good luck.

As stated above the creditor needs to update the CRA.

And as stated above it should go up but there's the possiblity of bucketing issues.
