Help with CU

I recently spoke with a CU manager that told me that it was illegal for them to remove any collection account from my bureau because it was reported fairly.  I told him that my intentions was to pay it in full for compete deletion.  I stuck to my guns and end the call with those demands.  I also mailed them a letter requesting the same.

Is this actually true, that they can not remove these items, or was he just blowing smoke?  What should be my next move.

Continue to stick to your guns... While some won't delete or remove info, they absolutely can.

Re: Help with CU

The company that put it there can remove it. It is illegal for a CRA to remove it with out permission from the creditor unless it is there by error. Just because you said you would pay for deletion does not mean they have to do it unless they agreed. If they are the creditor that placed this on your credit report they can remove it legally if they choose. They do however have to report it as paid.
