Home Point Financial - Reporting Error to TU - Score Drop

So CK alerted me that my credit score had dropped 40 points, so I took a look to see if my new accounts and closed accounts were finally reporting.

I found the issue and then pulled an actual real report to see what damage it had done.  The issue - Home Point Financial reported a 120 day late on 5/7/18 - no payment history was reported, no 30/60/90 reported, just that the loan was closed and late.  Never had been on my credit report, just showed up with an account open date of 1/19/16 and closed/late on 5/7/18.

Called TU to dispute the account as not mine since I refinanced the mortgage prior to them merging with my original lender (the original lender is still on my CR in a correct closed/paid status).  Also called the mortgage lender and she said that I'm not the first person to report this issue, and right now it looks like a TU only reporting issue.  She emailed the credit department while we were on the phone.

From a data point perspective, this "error" dropped my TU 08 from 679 to 654 (my prior report was 5/4).  My ch7 is 4+ years old and I went from 3 negative accounts with the last negative 4.6 years ago to 4 negative accounts with last late 0.0 years ago. AAoA remained unchanged.

It's amazing all of the power that these companies have to essentially report whatever they want and how hard it is for people to get mistakes corrected.  I'm just venting a little and I do want to cry right now, this is the last thing that I needed to be dealing with right now.....

Re: Home Point Financial - Reporting Error to TU - Score Drop

Did this ever get resolved? I had a very similar situation happen to me. Ck, Cs, and Credit Wise all alert me that my Homepoint mortgage is reporting a 30day late on TU (in error, of course) but not MyFICO. My loan used to belong to Stonegate before the merger.

Edit: It just hit MyFico; called Homepoint, and apperantly it's a system issue between them and Trans Union, but I was told "it will all be fixed"

53 point drop! to my TU report!

Re: Home Point Financial - Reporting Error to TU - Score Drop

They dropped my score with a late on TU (that, like others, is bull droppings) that dropped me 100+ points..

Then today, they deleted the TL all togther... That gave me some points back.

I am still way off from where I was Friday and *nothing* has updated other than home point in the time since they trashed my report. I can only blame the loss of the TL completely for the lower score.

Re: Home Point Financial - Reporting Error to TU - Score Drop

I called TU and disputed the account as “not mine” because the Home Point account was valid.

I called Home Point and they said it’s an internal error and they were aware of it. They said it would take about 3 days to fix. Having my Stonegate loan number helped the person answering the phone.

In three days the account was gone, TU sent me an updated credit report and earlier this week Home Point sent an apology letter.

Re: Home Point Financial - Reporting Error to TU - Score Drop

Hello - This just happened to me and my wife last Saturday and since then I have put in disputes online with TU for both of us. My wifes credit went down over 70 points and I dont know how far mine dropped but either way this is bad. I have been unable to reach anyone at Home Point as there phone system has been “down” all week (yah right). But i finally reached someone at a different number and she stated that this issue was on the TU end and that Home Point will be mailing out a letter stating our account is in good standing. So I called TU to find out what was going on and like others have stated they werent really helpful and all that the person (from another country) did was create a manual dispute which he said I would get an email with the dispute information. I received nothing and the online disputes I submitted state that they are in a manual process and there has been nothing done since they were submitted. This is extremely frustrating that these bureaus has essentially control over our lives and if they make a mistake we have to spend countless hours chasing them around to get it resolved all the while stressing over whether or not their mistake will cost us in the end. I fully expect my wifes and my score to go back to what it was prior to this whole sham and if it doesnt after the fix this i will be extremely upset as it takes a lot of time and diligence to achieve and maintain a good score and credit profile. If anyone has any advice or feedback on any contact numbers or people that I can reach directly please let me know.

Re: Home Point Financial - Reporting Error to TU - Score Drop

Experian alerted my that I had a 60 day late from Home Point, which is an error. Tried to reach out to Home Point on 6/4 and their phone lines were down. Website header read that they are aware of the wrongful reporting which may have effected their customers and that the problem would be resolved on 6/8. Still nothing. What can we, as consumers do to correct this? Having an excellent FICO is like gold. What are other customers doing to facilitate in the correction of this problem?
