How do you tell if they used a HP or SP?

This may be a silly question but how do I tell for sure if for a CLI they did a HP or SP? I recently got a CLI and I just got the letter in the mail and it didn't have any detail about a HP at all being done. I know when I got the card they sent something with info about a HP and my score and so on. How do I see if this was done and if it was EQ or what?

Thanks for yor help

I agree with Nixon.  Also, if you have any monitoring services, if it is a hard pull, there is notification.  If it is a soft pull, you don't see any alert...

Yeah, you'd have to check your report to be 100% sure. With CLI's, it will almost always tell you, you can tell by the verbage. Usually something like "we may require a copy of your credit report to process your increase" is obviously a HP, whereas "instant decision that will not affect your credit" is SP.

New accounts are always HP, PC'ing an existing account is either nothing or SP. Depending on the situation, it's usually easy to deduce what went on even without looking at your report.

Order a report from annualcreditreport.com which shows the reporting codes.

Since reports from that site are only available to you as the consumer, they can show soft pulls wihtout any concern over violation of the FCRA.

Most other commerical reports omit soft pulls so that they can vend to anyone, including to parties other than the named consumer.
