Re: How does a judgement effect current cc's?

Can you advise me as to any amex card I may be approved for with 577 TU and 614 EXP?  I just was approved today for Kay Jewelers 3k limit, have 4 cc's 2yrs old never late, what are your thoughts?  I live in Michigan, any idea who they pull?  I could use another tradeline.
Thank-You so much in advance...

More than likely Amex will pull EX. Are these FICO scores? Do you have recent baddies within the last few years: collections, CO's or any public records such as judgment? Your EX score alone is borderline.

Re: How does a judgement effect current cc's?

I have one paid small ($285) l judgement on EQ and TU from 02/06, and 1 recent collection-disputed awaiting results, 2 paid collections 1 from 02, and 1 from 03, both under $200 paid in full.   My income has doubled this year, and I am trying to increase available credit.  What do you think?
Thanks~

Amex and a lot of others will deny you, this judgment of yours is less than two years old. It's possible your scores will improve after 02/08 but an approval will still be tough with Amex. You might want to go the secured card route, BoA is the best but again I don't know if they will approve with a judgment less than a few years old. Of course if your EX is clear from this judgment, it's possible you might get approved for a Gold Delta Skymiles card and covert to a better card such as Blue, Blue Cash or Clear. You are really borderline as I said.

Re: How does a judgement effect current cc's?

If you are in a position to negotiate a settlement (reduced-payoff) and able to come up with money to take care of the debt for a reduced amount, you should go that route.  You may be able to even negotiate a settlement and payments on such settlement.  Once a judgment is entered against you, it's a little more serious then just having your credit affected (if they report to the bureaus), you may be looking at a levy on your banking accounts, lien against any property, or garnishment of your wages.  I'm going to assume if you are already at the stage of legal action/judgment being taken against you that damage has already been done to your credit, so the blow may not be as bad as everyone makes it out to be.

If I were you I'd do everything possible to not get this judgment entered. Trust as someone who had judgments on her credit report although everything else was fine, it hinders you NO MATTER how old it is. They'd rather see a discharged BK over judgment of any kind.

I would seriously look into SOL and petition the court to vacate any judgment considering you've made payment arrangements. Whatever avenue you can take I'd find it and take it besides taking this kind of hit on your credit report. Also if you don't already own a home this will hinder you when you try for one.

I hope everything works out for you.

I agree with the others: try and head this one off at the pass if at all possible. Judgments are nasty.
