Re: How does the Date of Reporting Affect your score????

When the creditor updates your report say the date on a baddie is 08/16/04  your fico score back in 04-05 would have been effected because it was considered a fresh baddie. Now lets say it is dated 08/16/04 and it is now of course 08/16/07 the baddie does not have as big of effect on your score because of time. You have distanced yourself from it. You might have more recent credit. That is why they say distance yourself from old bad credit accounts. When you dispute something that is truley yours you need to make sure it will not come back and bite you. That is why we say PFD it if you can. Becuase if they verify and update it is fresh and your score will suffer.

Re: How does the Date of Reporting Affect your score????

Okay, I have an old CAP 1 charge off from 2004 that I paid off.  It was a settlement.  I sent a GFW to have it removed, however, they just updated it and now my new date of reporting is 08/2007.  How will this affect my credit score?
