How long before debts are removed from credit reports?

I have an 18 yr old debt that is affecting my score.I thought these debts came off your report

after 7 yrs? Can someone clarify this for me and actions to take to remove it?I do not have 6,000 dollars for a  $350 loan I had in my senior year of high school.Thanks in advance!

it is 7 years. what type of debt is it?  if its government type then i think they can report indef.

It was a personal loan to mini vacate before beginning college

7.5 years from the DOFD. Dispute it with the CRAs that are reporting it.

Definitely dispute it as past the date of reporting it should come off fairly easily or is it being sold to OCA after OCA?  If so have the Ca send you verification that the debt is valid and advise that if they dno

t remove you will sue.
