How to FREEZE a report?

 

Does it cost money?

 

I basically want a PASSWORD or PIN required when i go to apply for something

 

 

Don't want to pay for 'life lock'

Experian offers online freeze. Just google it.

If you are not a victim of identity theft, then generally you must must PAY PER BUREAU a price to freeze your reports.  You must also PAY to unfreeze them temporarily or permanently.  I believe it runs around $10 per transaction, depending on what state you live in.

@JTC403,

 

As another user pointed out, unless you are a victim of identity theft, it is still going to coast you money freezing and unfreezing it.  It best for you to do a comparison with the cost of lifelock and going this route.
