How to Get Rid Of Old Charge-Offs and generally improve credit

I let my 4 credit cards go to collection when I was in college (2000/2001). I paid everything either in full or in a settlement in 2004/2005/2006.

I'm curious to know when those charge-offs will come off my credit reports? And is there anything I can do to speed up the process.

I have 4 major credit cards and a store card (Dell) right now and have never missed a payment on any of them.  3 of the cards are with very low limits 500, 750 and 900.

My credit ratings are TU 693, Equifax 680 and Experian 664.

What else can I do to improve my scores. My credit card usage is about 30% at the moment. I never had a mortgage and have about 25k in student loans that are now in deferment because I'm in law school.

Any help is appreciated.

I believe that drop date still goes by DOFD. If DOFD was in 2000 it will drop in 2007....2001 drop 2008

7-7.5 years from DOFD
