How to increase my FICO score

I need help.  My credit report is good without any delinquents, but my score is still low.  I have a short credit history as I paid things off and closed without knowing this would hurt me.  I want to get my score up ASAP.  What can I do to accomplish this hair pulling task?  Has anyone been through this and what did you do to raise you score?

Please help!!!!!!

Re: How to increase my FICO score

Hey JDP, welcome to the forums. Please read Credit Scoring 101, which is stickied in this board. If you have any open revolving accounts, you can find points there the quickest. Pay balance down to less than 10% util. If they are all recently closed, try to get them opened back up with the same history. Allow one to post a balance of <10% monthly.

Without more detail, it is impossible to give you specific opinions.

I have been told that you can be added on to someone else's credit card with a long history.  Has anyone heard of that?  Will it allow you to get all of that credit history?

Re: How to increase my FICO score

That's called an authorized user. You have to make sure that you are getting yourself in a good situation if you do that though. Say your DW has a CC that is 10 years old, but she keeps it maxxed out. That will not help you. If she keeps a low balance and clean history, then you are good to go. Also, not every CC issuer will report AU.
