How to remove oneself as AU:

Wife added me as an AU to her Citi card

I never agreed to such & it seems that Citi allows one to be added without a Social Security # or matching address

our addresses on credit reports do not match as we were married when both owned homes and her parents reside in the home she owns and we have seperate PO Boxes for mail (both small business owners)

I have asked her to remove me - but was not forceful - as she keeps a high balance

Citi has not been helpful because I cannot get past the automated stuff w/o her social security #

how is it that I am stuck in this situation with a CC on my profile that I did not request, have not received or desire

Can anyone help with how to remove this from my profile?

I remember reading about a gent with a similar situation with his mother but do not remember the resolution

Re: How to remove oneself as AU:

I just checked the Citi site and am unable to remove any AU online

it will need to be a call to Citi to have you removed

i would ask her when you can set aside 20min to give them a call and be removed - just explain that it isnt helping your credit, so you should be removed

I know that some people Dispute it on the CRAs - that may work as well

Re: How to remove oneself as AU:

OP you don't really have to provide a reason to be removed as an AU.  Call the creditor and ask to be removed.  If it still appears on you credit reports, then dispute the account directly with each CRA. Hope this helps.

Re: How to remove oneself as AU:

at one time I had accounts on my report where I was an auth user of a couple of my dads accounts. one closed and the other was open, both in good standing and very well aged. father and I had an unfortunate falling out many years before I even realized they were on my reports, so I didn't really feel comfortable contacting him.

I was able to dispute through 2 of 3 credit bureaus online dispute portal as "not my account" or something to that effect. I had to call for the third but gave the same reason. within days I was notified by each that the trade lines had been removed.

although its easiest if you could be a little more persuasive with getting her to do it.
