I got a deletion letter - but is this strange?

I did what I was told not to - I called the CA. I was feeling like I should give up and just pay everything b/c none of my PFD's or GW's are getting any response. So - I took the advice of someone who said to call Aargon collection agency as they will delete if you call.
 
THey agreed to send a deletion letter if I paid over the phone. I charged to my CC. The CSR was very nice and said he promised to fax letter shortly after our conversation. He did. This is what it said:
 
Aargon Agency respectfully requests that the above mentioned account be removed from your records. we have been informed by our client that the mentioned account were placed in error, and should not have been reported on the above credit report. I apologize for any inconvenience and call me for further assistance.
 
Then it lists the three CRA's.
 
1. I paid them - how is this an error?
2. Does this mean I need to send to the CRA's or do they?

I think it means that write this to avoid the account from being marked as paid.  If they notify the CRA that the account should not have been there at all,  it avoids any confusion.  Just to be on the safe side, however, I would call them.  I would wait to see if the account is deleted form your CRA.  If not, then send them the letter.

As daytona said, check your credit report again next month.   If it's deleted, you don't need to do anything.  If it's not deleted, then dispute the item with the CRA and send a copy of that letter from Aargon to the CRA for proof.
