Brief history, I was a Chase customer for 4 yrs, never missed a payment, received several CLI and then I was offered a better APR with my cred union so I BT’d. Major mistake #1: I removed Chase from my bill paying service and I am still unsure how I could be so stupid, but I missed a payment on the balance of $250 (remainder that couldn’t be BT’d). Mistake #2: I did not know I should have left the account open, so double-goof, I closed the Chase account after paying the $250 in full (30-late).
This is my only ding on my CR. Shortly after the 30 day showed up, Amex and Juniper give me CLDs. I'm no longer the golden customer.

Why did you close the account immediately after a 30 day late?
IMO you lost a lot of bargaining power when you closed the account since you are no longer a customer anymore.

The late was in July 07. It is my only late, but if they delete the account, won't that still show the 30 day late? If it was that ez why wouldn't everyone just "delete" accounts. Maybe I am missing something? Sorry, totally new to this....
@Anonymous wrote:I would be really suprised they "purged" info from less than a year ago-I would take the delete-
A recent 30 vs a perfect never late- is a no brainer to me-If they delete any postive history is gone allong with the late-

@Anonymous wrote:Ok, I'm more baffled now.I called Chase and took them up on their offer to remove the account as stated in their response to GW letter, "we are able to remove" just call us.The woman I spoke to tried to pull up the account, said there is no such account and that she is not the person who can remove it from my credit report. She gave me the same address I mailed my first letter to - and then told me "it's been years since this account was active".huh? It's been 8 months since I closed it. I just don't get this.
And why did they tell me to make the call, if the call wouldn't result in what they were offering?

Please let us know how it turns out, and Good Luck!
I will for sure. It just dawned on me... when I was on the line with the CSR she tried to pull the account by my SS# too and I was nowhere to be found. If my letter/fax request to remove doesn't work, Should I just dispute it on the cred reports? If they don't have record of me how can they produce anything proving the 30 day late?
