I totally give up

Since i have joined this forum, i was inspired to get  my credit back on track. I have read, researched, and did good will letters only to get denied several times. I have one account that is so inaccurate that i have disputed numbers times that its nothing more i can do. I want to commend every one that have success stories, i can not bare anymore disappointments. My equifax score is 512, transunion, 497, i don't know what my experian score is but by the looks of things its no better. I even paid off off accounts that are in collections, settled debts, just to end back down to the bottom. I have never been so frustrated in my life. My credit sucks and there is nothing i can do about it but just wait another seven years for everything to fall off, and live on a cash only basis. What a way to start of 2008 Smiley Sad

Re: I totally give up

2007 was a bust - 2008 will be better!  Keep GWing, GW the collections you paid off.  Heck, I'm going to GW the state comptroller to try to get a tax lien off (it's worth the cost of the stamp to try several times).  I too was discouraged when Verizon blew me off - but I gave it another try and that TL is gone.  Persistnce pays off and adopt the attitude that you will not give up until they give you what you want.  Someone eventually will... you just have to find that someone.

I have one med collection that they said they will mark paid - so I'm trying another tactic (actually have one in reserve also which is to wait out SOL and then say do it my way or get no money ever).

Re: I totally give up

Try another approach. The best way to get someone's attention is to stroke their ego. Try being complimentary and accepting that they have your credit future in their hands. What can it hurt? By explaining that you are in need of their goodwill and apologizing for the difficulties your late payments/collections may have caused the lender, you may actually convince them that you are worthy of their goodwill.

I have no results on collection accounts to present to validate this method but I can say that this is the way it is with life, as we all know. Sometimes you must bite the bullet and butter someone up to get where you want to be.

Re: I totally give up

Keep doing GW and paying bills on time.  There a CCC that will give someone credit if they have 2 years clean history whuch you will have.  Also check www.whogavemecredit.com.  Do not apply for credit unless you are sure you meet the minimum requirements.

Also check out secured cards but stay away from Aspire.

Do not give up.  Time and patience and of couse pay you bills on time and you will get where you want to be,

Just so you dont think I am talking out my butt, 6 years ago  I had over 70k in CC debt and was dumped by my fiancee a few weeks before we were going to get married.  I just finished a 4,.5 year DMP.

Re: I totally give up

Please do not give up!  Say a prayer and keep GW!  I sit here today with a smile on my face with starting out the beginning of the year with a score 533 and now at 587 my pts go up and down.  I am fighting and I am going to win.  Please keep the win-win in your mind.  I lost 10 points on the 25th and gained 9 pts today (thanks to Cap1 cc reporting my balance).  I am now in the mist of writing GW letters to have some collections I paid the beginning of this year and asking from them to be removed from my reports, however my score watch alert trigger me to the forum, which by the way I love everyone on myfico forums Smiley Tongue.  This site has given me something I have never had - that is pay attention to my credit.  I am thinking ahead with the present in mind.  YOU CAN DO IT!

Re: I totally give up

Dont give up. It is just a matter of time things will pickup. May 2007, I had 4 collections, 3 judgements and 18k in debt and a score of 554. I am able to clean up all things and gained score for 691. I still have few more paid collections and lates to go. Many times, I was so frustrated and I came so close to give up. Hang in there and you'll come out with flying colors in 2008. For you 2007 is year of hardwork and year 2008 will be the year you can reap the fruits from your hardwork. Hang in there.

Re: I totally give up

Please don't give up! I just got an Amex collection deleted from all three credit bureaus. It takes TIME. Keep GW. Keep calling. Eventually you will get someone that will help you!

About 5 years ago, I had a couple of 60 day lates (was not late, lived overseas, and Sears just sucked and applied payments 6 weeks after the fact!). I disputed with the CRAs about 10 times. Finally they removed.

I have one more baddie to remove and it is a 30 day late. I wasn't late that I can recall, but had been in a bad car accident at that time, so it is possible. Anyway, I am going to keep disputing and keep gw them. Eventually it WILL come off. Be persistent. If everything in life were easy, it wouldn't be worth it in the end.

Re: I totally give up

Don't give up! Did Michael Jordan give up when he was cut from the high school basketball team? Did Walt Disney give up when he was told he lacked creativity? Did Colonel Sanders give up after having over 1000 people turn him down for his finger-licking good chicken recipe? Did Lucille Ball give up when she was told she lacked talent? Did Thomas A Edison give up when his 2000th light bulb failed to light? And will wynona01 give up just because things aren't rosy?

Sit down and go over all three FICO reports and figure what's hurting and what's not. Figure it out and create a gameplan. Send GWs not only to address listed in your CR, but send them also to the Pres./CEO of each company. If you sent a letter monthly to each higher up, someone's going to listen. They may not necessarily reply, but they could be taking action on your CR and without pulling it you may not know what's going on.

Living on a cash basis will hurt too. I did so for the past 5-6 years and my scores suffered. Apply for secured cards, if you have to, and you could always sock-drawer them (assuming you don't have any now). Fire off DVs to the creditors and dispute with the CRAs. I bet if you attacked every baddie consistantly and persistantly that within the next three months, you'd have scores in the 600s!

More importantly, continue reading here. The worse thing that could happen to you within the next 7 years is that you become better educated! Good luck and keep the faith.

Re: I totally give up

You know, the thing is that your giving up can hurt only you. If you think about getting any kind of credit in future you need more or less clean history an decent score, otherwise just forget about any kind of credit. So do not be pessimist, master positive thinking and aproach. Happy New Year and Good Luck.

Re: I totally give up

Wynona01, you can't give up on you. I too, was very discouraged and living on a cash basis (still am will start applying for CCs after closing on a mortgage in 1 month. I started out in May working on my credit and have had great success with EQ, good success with EX and limited success with TU.

Since finding this site, I am currently DVing a CA (erroneously hit my EX for 21 points recently and who knows how much on TU), GWing a two-year old baddie and disputing some other erroneous TLs on my CRs. I even managed to get a public record removed from EQ.

I don't know what my scores were in May, but I know they were all around the same range (probably low 500s). I had to move out of my nice home and into a rental (made me sick), but less than one year later, I am going to purchase another home.

My FICOs on 11/29/07 EQ 742 TU 568 EX 669 (was 690 on 10/29) erroneous baddie from CA got me.
