It was going to happen eventually and I finally got hit.
Woke up the other day to a notice of HP on TU report from Bright Money. I'm going through the steps, but this is about my (lack of) interaction with Bright Money. I called the number on the HP per TU's direction, but that number was actually another TU phone number and NOT Bright Money. Then I head over to BM's website and call the number listed where no one answers and the system just hangs up on you. I called that number 7 times with the same end result. Then I use the chat bot:
Me: Fraud.
BM Chat: We have received your inquiry and will get back to you as soon as possible.
Me: You don't know who I am or how to reach me- how are you going to contact me?
BM Chat: We have received your inquiry and will get back to you as soon as possible.
Yeah... so I pretty much struck out there, too. I did find some forums that had a recent email address listed and I reached out to that and am still waiting. I feel like I'm not going to be able to talk to anyone at BM until this loan goes into default and I end up talking to their lawyers.
I'm going through the other steps that I can manage for this, but BM seems to have a useless front point for fraud.
What a pain in rear...

First question. How did you know it was going to happen? Did you have any kind of interaction at all with this comapny?

I assume they mean fraud in general.

Yeah- it was just fraud in general. I've never had interaction with BM, though.

Sorry to hear about this hopefully you get to the bottom of it ASAP. We're your reports frozen when this happened?

No, but they all are now. I was lucky because I was camping and waaaay outside of cell service. I caught a rare and random few seconds of data which was enough to get a notification alert to my phone and I immediately drove an hour to civilization where I had reliable service. I had everything locked down about 1.5 hours after it happened. I've only seen the one HP on any report so I'm lucky that I was in the right place at the right time to get the alert. It could have been so much worse. I was expecting to log in and find another dozen hits.

Good! And I am glad you were able to get a signal and lock them down. Good thing it wasn't worse like you said. Keep us posted and good luck!

This is bizarre, but totally welcome-
While talking to Bright Money (well... talking to is a bit of a stretch- the CSR sounded like our call was being routed through a satellite orbiting Jupiter) I logged into CK and found that the inquiry has been deleted. I don't know how or why it was deleted, but I'm not going to argue.
Maybe fraud detection kicked in and held it until a human could intervene, maybe they were doing a marketing SP and accidentally HP'd a bunch of people and just reversed it. Whatever the case, that was about the easiest resolution I could have possibly had.
