After how long do inquiries have minimal affect on your credit score? i've read 6 months in an article before, however my EQ report says that inquiries "over the prevoius 12 months" are having a negative affect on my score

The ding last 6-12 months YMMV
Fico does not score them after 1 year
They remain on CR's for 2 years
The effect is gone from FICO scoring after 12 months. The older they age thru the 1 yr period the less of a score impact they have.

+1
A lot also depends on your file. The thicker and more established, the less the ding.
Interesting, so say if the first 6 months has the greatest impact, one can space each inquiry just over 3 months, say 3 months + 1 week, then at each applicate date there would only be 1 inquiry during the past 6 months, and 3 inquiries during the past 12 months. Or if you do every 4 months + 1 week, then there would only be 1 inquiry during the past 6 months and 2 inquiries during the past 12 months.
