Inquiries

I have multiple inquiries on my Trans Union report from Porfolio rec. What is confusing is it says inquiries are companies that I am appling for credit, and porfolio rec is collection company. I have charge off from 8 years ago that is not posted on my credit report, and hasn't been for few years, however they still show up as inquiries? Can they keep doing that? Do they ever go away? Should they be listed as inquiries?

Re: Inquiries

Thanks for this information. I guess I need to get with attorney who specializes in credit issues. First can collections agency (Portfolio) still come after me on account that is over 8 years old? Second even if they are allowed by law to come after me would they post on my credit report as an inquiry or an collection account? As the letter states that you attached, I didn't apply to collection agency for a job nor apply for credit, so how could they inquire my credit report?

Any in-put would be helpful. Does anyone know a good credit attorney in Phila PA area?

For open accounts in Pa. (CC & others) is 6 years. First be sure that it was a hard pull not a soft one. Soft pulls do not hurt you.

If you owe a debt any creditor can try & collect BUT can not report to CRAs after 7-7.5 years from DOFD.
They can mail you a bill but can not call if you tell them NO CALLS.

CA  do not have PP to make hard pulls!!!

Re: Inquiries 22

I currently have 22 inquiries in the past 12 months on my EQ report. 12 of these were from my lender in the course of 3 months. I also want to dispute 2 other inquiries from other sources. Should I try to have them deleted? And are they affecting my score?

The hard INQs within the past 12 months count, and drop after 24.   You should dispute anything hard and soft (non-promo soft are OK unless you have opted out) that you don't recognize.   With what is left, generally speaking the hard  INQs should be regarding new credit, the soft should be account reviews which do not count on your score.

Re: Inquiries

Crazy question, I am going to look into it after I submit this question, but how can i tell if it is a hard pull or a soft pull?

I get my reports right on this MyFico site.

Re: Inquiries

Hi.  What did you ever find out about this?  I have the exact same thing.  The collections have been off my reports for nearly 3 years now, but the collection agencies continue to do hard pulls every 3 to 6 months.  This of course makes it look like I have been applying for credit many more times than I actually have and drops my score a few points.  My scores are all above 740 but I don't like the inquiries showing when I apply for credit.
