No credit card required
Browse credit cards from a variety of issuers to see if there's a better card for you.
I have several beginner level questions I was hoping you all would answer.
1)I believe I pulled my credit report earlier this year, but I am not sure, is there a way to check? . . . Would getting another credit report within a year hurt my FICO scores?
2)How many credit card inquiries are too many? I believe I've had 3-4 in the past year, though once again I'm not sure. Does that number reset on Jan 1st or do they count it as a year from the initial inquiry?
3)Would testing out FICO's scorewatch program trial within a month of a new credit card inquiry and the pulling of my report hurt my scores?
There's some follow-up credit score questions I'd like to ask, but i'll save that for another thread.
Hi and welcome to the forums.
You pulling your own report never hurts your score.
Inquiries are at the sole mercy of the lender. Some will deny for 1, others are more lenient.
Inquiries don't reset. They stay on your report for 2 years but only count in your FICO score for 1.
Testing SW will have no impact on your score, an inquiry or pulling your report.
Thanks for the quick reply, time to check my credit report.
If by pulling your report you mean through the statutory allowance (annualcreditreport.com) then you are limited to one free viewing per year. And this means 365 days from your last pull not in a calendar year. It will tell you if you have already done so and when you can again. If you are talking about a pull through any of the monitoring sites then the information above is correct. And as stated any time you are looking at your own report through these sites there is no effect.
