Is it true that if you update on one CRA that it will follow to the others?

Hi.  I had a mistake on my credit report from Macy's.  When I spoke to a credit manager, she told me that if information is updated by one credit agency that the other agencies will follow suit.  Is this true? I had a 30 day late Volkswagen car payment deleted from TU, but I am afraid to dispute the payment with Equifax and Experian.  It was legitimate - although not my fault, I cosigned a loan for my brother in law.  When Volkswagen tracked me down to make the payment for him, I started paying over the phone but as I was making the payment, he supposedly was paying on the automated system.  The Volkswagen rep told me not to continue making the payment because my BIL's payment went through the system.  It apparently did go through but ended up being posted 3 days later.  Too late for it not to be reported as a 30 day late.  When I called and tried to get VW remove it from my credit report, they told me it was legitimate and would not remove it.  That is why I was surprised when TU deleted it from my credit report.

I'm now afraid to try and dispute with Equifax and Experian because I'm afraid it will reappear on my TU credit report.

Please let me know what you think.

One CRA could not care less what another is doing. I would not dispute it as it would update it.  Send a GW to the OC.

The CRA's don't talk to one another, EXCEPT in the case of a fraud alert. From what I've read, when people have been foolish enough to dispute a legit inquiry as "not mine," a CRA slaps a fraud alert on the file and then alerts the other two as well.
