It needs a catchy name...

Why do the CA's put up so much of an effort to cause so many headaches after a debt has been paid or settled?

Is it to frighten those who don't pay?  I really don't understand why their not focusing the time they're taking to make ME miserable and put that effort to someone who hasn't paid.

What does it matter to them if it's on my report for 2 years or 7 if I've paid it?

Wouldn't the laws be more effective if after you paid you only have it on for 2 more years after payment?  That would promote more people to pay them off quickly to get rid of the TL instead of devising ways to get around the SOL and waiting it out.  And if they don't pay...wait your 7 yrs like now.

Who would I go to with that plan, my state rep?

It needs a catchy name though....

Any suggestions?

The 7/2 Pay plan?

If they just took stuff off credit reports after paid, people might just let more go in default figuring they could just pay it off later and have it removed would be one guess.

It's part of the agreement when creditors and CA's work with CRA's. They're supposed to report everything. That's why it really is "goodwill" on their part when they agree to delete. They're actually violating this agreement.

If they would only be as diligent about reporting accurately and timely!
