Lexis Nexis dispute question

Greetings MyFicoers,

Since I'm Gardening and spending time staying out of temptation, I've decided to get around to cleaning up my LexisNexis and other auxiliary reports.

I got my LN (again) - I had previously 'fixed' the most egregious errors and left a lot of minor stuff (wrong addresses, etc).  All of the incorrect information can be boiled down to three basic/simple things - the question I have is, should I just send a letter asking for removal of all of the information in one fell swoop or work section by section, or what?   Has anyone removed/disputed a large amount of data, and what was most successful?

Re: Lexis Nexis dispute question

Hi @calyx, what kind of errors do you have?

I'd like to know the answer to this as well.  I didn't know much about all the secondary CRAs until reading about them on here recently.  I requested reports from ChexSystems, LexisNexis, SageStream (report and score) and Innovis.  Still need to request ARS, but seems that can only be by mail.

LexisNexis just came the other day.  I have some minor errors as well, including random phone numbers I've never seen before.  I think one might be my brother's old number, but he has lived in Germany for the last 5+ years and I don't think it is active anymore.  I also have some online marketing records with my mom's old work email, but not sure if it is even worth bothering with those.

@TampaBAY86  - Just incorrect addresses & phone numbers.   They're related to 1.   Fraudulent accounts 2.  Extended family (think first cousin once removed) and 3.   A guy I dated for a few months back in the 90s (seriously).

Re: Lexis Nexis dispute question

@calyx, I found it much easier to just "FREEZE" LN and opt out. Nothing Wrong, just way to much information.

That was a couple years ago (or so) .. have not been declined for LN freeze.

Or , I have not hit the right lender yet.

Re: Lexis Nexis dispute question

@M_Smart007 No issues huh? I'm jumping into the secondary bureau freezes/data correction and was under the impression that LN was a common underpin when applying for new credit. So far it was the only one I didn't freeze. Were any of your apps for a mortgage? Thats really the only thing I've got coming up for the next few years. I'd LOVE to freeze that one.

Hi @805orbust , No Mortgage apps. (I have no LN DP's on that)

I have opened 34+ CC's with "ZERO" frozen LN Issues .. multiple lenders (CU's , Regional & Non-Regional banks)

Re: Lexis Nexis dispute question

🤣🤣🤣  Ok noted. I am definitely in no danger. I'm freezing it for sure. NOT looking forward to going thru it for errors... I've heard some nightmare scenarios about them and their data. 😉

Re: Lexis Nexis dispute question

@calyx  I did it in one fell swoop and they got it right the 1st time.  When they're done they send you a link so you can download and review the updated report, they no longer send you a hard copy.

p.s. in response to some of the other comments in the thread I'm of the mindset to FIX stuff instead of sweeping it under the carpet by freezing.   If the day comes when you need to unfreeze it the cruft will still be there so you'll have to either take the time to fix it or expose it as-is.  IMO if you want to freeze on principle go ahead, but fix first.

Re: Lexis Nexis dispute question

@coldfusion - Thanks!

@M_Smart007 - Mine is frozen, but I also don't think having a bunch of fraudulent/incorrect information is a great idea when I can clean it up.  If it were just random second cousins' addresses, that's one thing, but there's a lot of misinformation I want off just because I have had fraudulent accounts and the more correct a file is, the better, IMO.
