Personally, I couldn't imagine ANYONE spending $40K on an education and not using it!!!

To me, that'd be like spending $40K on a brand new sports car and never taking it out of the garage!!

i think we're getting a little off topic.

Don't worry so much about the SL debt.  installment loans don't hurt her credit as much as the revolving debt.  So i would work on paying off all credit card debt the most.  If you're going to be the sole bread winner in the family then just make sure to make her SL payments on time and you'll be fine.  If/when she gets a job the loan will be paid back in no time.
