Medical debt

I owe 531 on a ambulance ride but they are charging me 707, something to do with public reporting of some sort.

My question is if i get it under 500 total owed will they have to remove from credit history starting in July?  Or does it have to be paid totally off before it get deleted

The law that changes the reporting of the medical debt is new and hasn't gone into effect yet.  Until it is actually being utilized there is no way to know how they are going to handle outlying situations like this.  Keep in mind that you could unintentionally make a bigger mistake paying it down to an amount that can't report by resetting the SOL for lawsuit.  Depending on your state law that debt SOL could be reset if it has expired and you could end up being sued for the remaining balance making reporting to the bureaus the least of your problems.

It is being reported it is only 3 yrs old and payed it down below the 500 limit to hopefully get rid of it trying to clean up baddies, only had this one and 1 other i already paid off waiting for it to be deleted now per what they said on phone and website, even this medical one told me they would delete once paid off, i just did not want to finish paying this ambulance one to save me money and have it auto-deleted under new law for medical stuff.

I get it for sure.  There are a lot of people in similar situations to yours and I suspect quite a few will try what you are bringing up:  "let me pay this down to below the threshold for reporting" and until we see how they handle this i.e. does it go by the full debt or the remaining balance we won't know.  Again, deletion could be the least of the problem if the SOL is reset and a lawsuit follows leaving consumers holding a tiger by the tail.  I am sure it is a scenario that has not been thought about yet.
