I had a card with them that I fell behind on due to family medical problems and it was eventually charged off, I paid it off for less than the full balance
My first date of delinquency was 7-2013, I disputed it on all 3 bureaus and it came off on TU and EXP
It stayed on my EQ and actually lowered my score? It's the only negative item I have remaining on my report and I desperately want it removed, they report that was first date of delinquency was 1-2014 and that's incorrect, so I disputed it again on Wednesday
These are my FICO 8 scores today:
EXP 725
TU 728
EQ 670
Any insight/advice on this matter would be greatly appreciated
Thanks
Looks like it's pretty old. Have you giving the 609 Dispute Letter a try? It has worked for me in the past.
Thanks for the reply!
What's a 609 dispute letter?
You say that your date of first delinquency was in 7/2013.
Was that the date of your first delinquency on the account, and you thereafter remained delinquent up to when they charged-off the debt?
Or did you later bring the account back into good standing, and have a later and new string of delinquency that resulted in the charge-off?
DOFD, as used to control exclusion of a charge-off, is not defined as the first late ever on the account; it is reset to a new first delinquency each time a new chain of delinquencies occurs.

Although it's a general statement that derogs fall off after 7 years (it's what we all hear) the credit bureaus actually have 7 years and 180 days that they can keep a derog on your file. Even if the dofd was in 7-13 it could stay on the file for 7 years 180 days putting it at the same time of dropping off if the 1-2014 date was used and dropped at 7 years.
The bureaus usually will drop at 7 years so they don't violate laws by accidentially going over the 7 years and 180 days. Equifax is a hardball sometimes and have the worse early exclusion time of 1 month whereas Trans is 6 months and Experian is 3 months.
I had a collection on Equifax that the other 2 had dropped and Equifax kept verifying (wrong dofd). I disputed again and sent in *NEW* documents. They again stated verified blah blah but the next day the collection was gone.
Keep persevering you may luck out Good Luck.
Thanks for the reply, I agree with you that EQ plays hardball lol
Maybe I'll luck out and they'll remove it!
