My experience with Capital One Executive Office

Hey all, I know there are a ton of stories about the capital one executive office, but I figured I would throw mine in to make sure as many recent stories are available as possible.

As I posted in another forum, I had a Orchard Bank CC with a $300 CL and a $59 annual fee. I got it at a time I needed to rebuild credit, and at the time it was useful. Capital One bought them out a little over a year ago, and I thought great! My oldest CC is with Capital One, and it has a much higher limit, so hopefully this one will increase quickly too.

I asked for a CLI every 3-4 months for the last year, getting denied every time. I also asked for AF to be removed. At first they account was too "new" to them. By the end, the only reason was the account was being monitored and evalutated right now, so no CLI and no removal of AF.

By this point, I had gotten pletny of CLI increases from my BoA card, my Amazon card, and I even received a few big bumps in my OTHER Capital One card. So seeing as how this $300 dollar CL was less than 5% of my available credit, and by far was my biggest annual fee, I decided I would just cancel it. However, I posted on this forum asking for advice. Most said cancel, but some explained how they were in a similar situation and they turned it into a good card after all. They recommended contacting the Executive Office.

So I sent an email off to the CEO explaining how this card is useless to me, I never use it because of the low CL, and although I don't want to cancel it, Cap One doesn't work with me AT ALL on it so I don't see another choice.

A week later I got a phone call from the Exec Office, and spoke with a very nice gentleman who said no...I can't do the AF permanent removal, but I will credit you back immediately for the one you paid this year. This is how things started, I didn't even ask...

Then he said OK, I will get the account reviewed manually, you can ask for whatever you want, and an actual person will be looking over everything and making a decision. I said Okie Dokie, I don't know what to ask for....anything over 1000 would be helpful and make me feel like it was growing. He said, go as high as you want, and we can also put in here that you would be willing to accept a partial CLI.

So I said great, let's try for $3,000 then since many of my other cards are near there, and if not, I would really be happy with anything over $1,000.

He said it would take about a week! Fingers crossed, I'll update you all on how it plays out, but I'm happy that I'm starting to make an honest card out of this crap Orchard Bank CC.

And by the way, I will not be PM'ing the phone number or the email address to anyone...It's extremely easy to find if you google for literally 2 minutes, and as other people have mentioned...this isn't a line to be abused, so I don't want to be responsible!

Re: My experience with Capital One Executive Office

Well, just logged in today at my credit limit is up to 1500! Not too shabby, I'll take the 1200 dollar increase. Would have been nice to get 3k, but I was shooting for the stars on that one. That plus the waived AF, I actually like this card again!

By the way I would guess my credit is about 650, so not great!
