Re: My success with Verizon (an OC)

Lady Scarlett,

I got a response from Verizon after I sent your letter. They are basically telling me that it appears to them that I am requesting a debt validation and that since they are not a debt collector they don't have to investigate unless I specifically ask for the an investigation. Isn't that what I asked for with your letter? It is also telling me to contact my local billing department to request itemized charges? Don't know where to go from here. It is very frustrating.

Re: My success with Verizon (an OC)

eknock as Lady said.....you do not DV the OC       you only DV the CA

Verizon is the OC...........in order to get an answer from them  FIRST you must dispute with all CRAs that are reporting!!!

If the disputes are closed & you are told that they were verified.....you then send the OC (Verzon)  an OC letter.....they will then answer the letter.

Re: Acct #xxxxxxxxxxxxxx

To Whom It May Concern:

I recently pulled my credit report from Experian, Equifax and TransUnion and noticed this account was listed on each of my reports as a collection I immediately disputed this information with Experian, Equifax and TransUnion and the results of the investigation came back as "verified".

Since I have disputed the account with the credit bureaus, and you have verified them, I would like to see what sort of records you have for this alleged account. Under the new FACTA laws, you are required to conduct an investigation on this account, and I am now requesting it.

In order to clear up this matter, I would like to see:

Complete account history, including, all statements, records of all activity, payments, collection attempts, and any charges added for collection activity; In short, any and all documentation pertaining to this account

If you don't respond with the results of the investigation (as is required per the FCRA), I will assume you have no documentation and therefore you were negligent in providing the credit bureaus with accurate information. At this point, you would also be in violation of the FCRA merely for not responding within the 30-day period.

Please send all correspondence to:

Re: My success with Verizon (an OC)

This sounds very easy if the OC is the one reporting, but if verizon sold the account to a CA like PINNACLE, oh god, its a hell lot of misery.

They will not even bother answering PFD or answer your dispute or dv request.

I know some people will say that it will constitute violation in their part, but for some people going through the court over the $100 bill is just "too much."

My friend is suffering this kind of situation.

Re: My success with Verizon (an OC)

If they didn't answer DV   didn't you send copy of everything to CRAs   and ask for delete?

Just remember that the cell phone can NOT sue after 2 years.........that gives you chance for a PFD  state SOL doesn't enter this debt!

Re: My success with Verizon (an OC)

I didn't ask for a DV. I just used Scarlett's OC letter (the one you posted above) and that is the response I received. I sent it to the Columbus OH address. It seems to me that this going around in circles since my OC letter asked for an investigation but their response was that I had not asked for an investigation and that if I wanted one I should ask again. Furthermore, it sounded to me like they didn't want to do an investigation and that if I wanted any proof of the debt/bill that I should contact some billing department at Verizon.

Re: My success with Verizon (an OC)

If you DV them. And they dont answer, can you present your effort to the CRA and ask that they delete it since they dont validate?

Re: My success with Verizon (an OC)

Columbus sent me a 'form letter' even though my 3rd letter to them was a request for an investigation - they are idiots.  I got action (and results) by sending the investigation request to the President's assistant at the local office (Verizon of Maryland for me) - it went to NYC then Pittsburgh for a deletion.  Local office is subject to PSC and State consumer laws (aaahhh - the light comes on!).  I had dealt with the President's assistant back in the 1990s on a $60K advertising error (which she got resolved).  Figured that was my best shot.

Re: My success with Verizon (an OC)

So instead of sending to the FOLSOM, CA office i should send it to a local office, like a VZW retailer or a regional office, which would be in Atlanta, GA!

I have sent my GW and OC letters to the FOLSOM, CA office they keep shooting me down!
Rebuilding and Reducing Debt, is my game plan.
