I've been dealing with an issue for some time with Equifax. I pulled a credit report and theres no data. Even when I try to pull my 3B on my fico the system tells me it cant retrieve the Equifax report. Numerous calls into Equifax and still dealing with this issue 7 months later. Has anyone dealt with this before (I hope not) or have advice on how to resolve? TYIA
Split file call equifax and set aside a few days to fix it as a nightmare. Insist on.a supervisor or will be going round robin for weeks.
Equifax being Equifax.
You can't file an online dispute, as you can't dispute something that they aren't reporting.
There are a couple of different options:
a) call Equifax support and request they open up a ticket with US based support and get the ticket # from them. The support staff in India can see many things but is only empowered and enabled to themselves fix very few of them, including their supervisors. This is something that would need US staff to fix.
b) Contact one of your creditors and have them confirm that they are reporting regularly to Equifax; once they've confirmed file a complaint with the CFPB naming Equifax for incorrect reporting. Include in your complaint that you've already confirmed with at least 1 creditor that they are providing information and you've already spent 7 months trying to get Equifax to address the problem.
Past experience is that when following Equifax' standard processes fail option a) has a decent chance of eventually getting you where you need to be but b) is the approach that by far is more effective at getting results within 30 days.
I have my ticket number. Opened the case on 8/04/23 and called back on 08/11/23. The staff member stated that they have seen this before and the ticket is open. He stated that it takes about a week and said to check back on 8/14/23. I asked what is my next course of action with equifax if its still not working and couldn't get a straight answer other than they are working on it. Looks like I will have to call one of my creditors and then file if the CFPB as suggested if nothing has changed on 08/14/23.
